When it opened this spring following a meticulous five-year restoration project, the five-star Cashel Palace Hotel in Co Tipperary offered something very uniqiue, tucked away in a corner of Ireland that’s far from the tourist trail.


Dating back to 1732 and originally the home of the archbishops of Cashel, the reimagined Relais & Châteaux hotel has a new guest-room wing, spa and swimming pool, which join it’s 42 guest rooms and nine suites.


Cashel Palace launched with BC SoftWear linens and towels throughout the hotel as well as in the spa in March of this year, all because of a first meeting at Spa Life Ireland in 2019.


General manager Adriaan Bartels​ says: “During the pre-opening of Cashel Palace I spent a lot of time engaging with Karen Hesketh from BC Softwear, finding suitable products for us to use both in the hotel and our spa. Despite the limitations of working during a pandemic, as well as the considerable restrictions put in place by Brexit, Karen alongside Barbara and Sam Cooke, were at all times very professional. Not just in how they dealt with our requests but also in their suggestions and recommendations. BC SoftWear has ensured we have a five-star offering for our guests as they understand this market extremely well. They are five star themselves!” 

Providing ultimate comfort

Sometimes clients know exactly what they want from us, as was the case with Cashel Palace. The team knew from the start that they needed luxury towels, robes and spa linens, and bespoke offerings that matched the high standards and level of service throughout the hotel.


Karen Hesketh, Business Development Manager at BC SoftWear, explains: “We always take great care to accommodate all our clients’ requirements, as we know that the guest experience in a five-star property must be one of ultimate comfort and luxury. We worked closely with Adriaan all the way through Cashel Palace’s pre-launch process, offering numerous samples to ensure everything was to the quality and finish they required.


“The designer for Cashel Palace, Emma Pearson, met with our MD Barbara Cooke at the studio of Emma Pearson Designs to discuss bespoke items that Cashel Palace required. In particular they wanted everything in their brand colour of taupe. Emma opted to have bespoke labels stitched into dual layered Hamptons Robes as well as embroidery of the Cashel Palace crest the front. The Hamptons Robe stands out as it offers a soft comfortable dressing gown feel on the outside – in a draping fluid fabric that falls around the body – while still offering a highly absorbent towelling lining. Cashel Palace selected our Opulence 100% pure Turkish cotton bath sheet towels, also embroidered, for their guest rooms.

“Adriaan and Emma were keen to ensure every element of their linens offer was just right, opting for luxury extras including cosy children’s Fleecy robes, luxury fleece slippers – also with Cashel Palace embroidery – and branded Jute bags.”


It’s this sort of attention to detail that makes all the difference when it comes to presenting an all-encompassing five-star offering to guests. In the hotel, even the hand towels and sumptuous bathmats are embroidered, while in The Spa at Cashel Palace no detail has been overlooked, as befits a five-star spa. As well as Hamptons treatment blankets – a bespoke product but made from the material of the Hampton’s robe, BC SoftWear has supplied branded flip flops, Pure Linen pillows and pillow cases, and supreme soft elasticated lounger covers, also in taupe.


“BC SoftWear was originally asked to submit product suggestions for only the spa linens,” continues Karen. “However, Emma, the interior designer liked us due to our flexibility and the fact we could manufacture to their specific interior design colour, and so BC SoftWear was awarded the entire order. We are delighted to supply such a magnificent property.”
